HAIR BREAKAGE: AN UNDER APPRECIATED CAUSE OF
HAIR LOSS IN WOMEN

This published article (Hair Transplant Forum, May 2008) Cohen describes how Trichometer technology may be used to identify and quantify hair breakage – a commonly overlooked cause of hair loss in longhaired women. On the basis of this article, an auto-calculating Hair Breakage Index (HBI) display was added to the HairCheck’s design.

In this published article  (J Cosmet. Sci., 2011) Mahaskar et al, report how the HairCheck device was used in a clinical study to test the efficacy of a conditioning product. The authors conclude that the Hair Breakage Index (HBI) data generated by the HairCheck device can be used as a tool for assessing hair damage. They also conclude that the technology is a fast and reliable method with advantages over other hair damage assessment techniques; because it can be performed directly on human subjects with intact hair.
